Clay bricks vs concrete bricks: which is right for you?

Most bricks are either clay or concrete. Both are solid choices, but they behave differently.

Clay bricks

Fired from clay, the traditional Australian brick. Rich, natural colours that hold for decades, strong, and the colour runs right through so chips do not show. The look most people picture when they think brick.

Concrete bricks

Made from cement and aggregate. Often cheaper, very consistent in size and shape, and available in colours clay cannot do. The colour can soften a little over many years.

How to choose

  • Want classic looks and long-term colour: clay.
  • Want a specific modern colour or a tighter budget: concrete.
  • Matching an existing house: match the material as well as the colour.

We lay both. Tell us the look you are after and the budget, and we will point you the right way.
