Matching new brickwork to an existing house

Few things give a bad extension away faster than brickwork that does not match. Getting it right takes the right brick, the right mortar and the right hands.

Matching the brick

Old bricks are often a size and colour you cannot buy new. The options are reclaimed bricks from the same era, a close modern match, or blending. We bring samples to hold against the existing wall in daylight.

Matching the mortar

The joint colour and profile matter as much as the brick. We match the mix and tool the joints the same way as the original, whether that is raked, flush or ironed.

Blending the join

Where old meets new, we tooth the brickwork in rather than butting it, so the two blend instead of showing a hard line.

The honest bit

A perfect match is not always possible, but a close, well-tooled one looks right. Send a photo of your existing brickwork and we will tell you how close we can get.
